This license plate features the John Paul Jones or "Serapis" flag with a rustic weathered metal texture. Although maybe not so well know this is a historic U.S. flag. In 1779 John Paul Jones fought a battle with the British navy and captured one of their ships. However, his own ship sank during the battle. As a result he had a captured ship but no flag of the U.S. to fly over it. When he sailed into a Dutch harbor this created a problem since they argued that he was a pirate. John Paul quickly remedied this problem by making a flag of his own, and this is what he produced. So show off your American heritage with this unusual version of the American flag!
