This nostalgic license plate features a map of old route 66, spanning from Los Angeles to Chicago and the bold text, "Get Your Kicks On Route 66." The "Get Your Kicks on Rout 66" slogan was made popular by the song written by Bobby Troup. He wrote the song while traveling Rout 66 with his wife on the way to California. "Get Your Kicks" was first recorded by famous black singer Nat King Cole in 1946

Route 66 was one of the original roads in the US Highways system established in 1926. In 1938 it became the first U.S. highway to be completely paved.  Route 66 was the main highway of the 1930s and was made iconic by a number of songs and TV series. Today Route 66 continues to be popular for nostalgic reasons even though it was removed from the US Highway system in 1985.
